Studied philosophy at the University of Barcelona, Spain, theology at Sophia Univ., Tokyo, and political science at Harvard Univ. from which he obtained the Ph.D. (1963). Professor, Sophia Univ. (1966-1981). President, Sophia Univ. (1968-1981). Rector, Pontifical Gregorian Univ., Rome (1992-1998).
